HUSH HOME / 02 · COSTS & PLANNING

Soundproofing Cost Estimator

Create a cost range using your own treatment area, unit prices and total labor allowances. Example amounts are arithmetic inputs, not local quotes, live prices or a promise of acoustic performance.

Behind the result - No mystery in the method

For each endpoint, material amount = entered area × unit price, rounded to cents. Subtotal = material amount + total labor allowance + any other allowance. Contingency = subtotal × percentage, rounded to cents. Total = subtotal + contingency. Lower material and labor amounts cannot exceed their upper values. Prices must use the same area unit you select; changing the label does not convert dimensions or prices. Money uses integer cents after multiplying area and unit rate. Blank extra allowance contributes zero internally but is omitted from entered-amount lines. No tax, permit, disposal, finishing, repair or structural cost is automatically added.

This tool does not measure real decibels, fetch live prices or guarantee a specific noise reduction. Blank optional fields are omitted. Text is displayed literally, not interpreted as HTML.

Change inputs to explore another scenario. The old result is cleared when an input changes. Download text creates a local copy; Print / Save PDF uses your browser. Review notes before sharing and delete copies you no longer need.

Before you go

Is this a contractor quote?

No. It is a range from your assumptions. Actual scope, access, products, labor, approvals and finishing may change a written quote. Check inclusions and exclusions with the actual provider.

Does a larger budget guarantee a certain decibel reduction?

No. Cost does not establish acoustic performance. The noise path, complete construction, installation and real conditions matter; a qualified assessment may be needed before choosing work.

Can I switch between m² and ft²?

Yes, but the tool changes the unit label only. Enter the correct area and matching per-unit prices yourself. It does not silently convert quantities or currency.

Are permits, electrical work or hazardous materials included?

Only amounts you intentionally include are modelled. The tool does not assess structural, fire, ventilation, electrical, asbestos or other hazards. Obtain appropriate professional advice and approvals before work.
