Behind the result - No mystery in the method
Time in bed is the clock difference between your chosen bed and getting-up times. If the getting-up clock is earlier, the model assumes the next day. Equal times are rejected as ambiguous rather than silently treated as zero or 24 hours. Wind-down start = bed time minus the chosen lead time, with a previous-day label if it crosses midnight. These are clock offsets, not dates, timezone conversions or daylight-saving calculations. The noise concern and timing pattern retrieve environmental review prompts; no sleep score, recommended sleep duration, noise exposure threshold or health prediction is calculated.
This tool does not measure real decibels, fetch live prices or guarantee a specific noise reduction. Blank optional fields are omitted. Text is displayed literally, not interpreted as HTML.
Change inputs to explore another scenario. The old result is cleared when an input changes. Download text creates a local copy; Print / Save PDF uses your browser. Review notes before sharing and delete copies you no longer need.
Before you go
Is time in bed the same as time asleep?
No. The calculation is only the interval between the two clock times you entered. It does not measure sleep onset, waking periods, sleep quality or an appropriate duration for you.
Will this cure insomnia or another sleep problem?
No. It is not a diagnosis or treatment plan. Persistent sleep difficulties, distress or health concerns should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional. No health information is needed here.
Should I block vents or cover alarms for a quieter room?
No. Keep ventilation, smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms, escape routes and any necessary equipment functional. Do not use masking sound to obscure warnings. Obtain qualified advice before changing building services or fire-safety features.
Does the planner play sounds or save a sleep history?
No. It does not request microphone access, play or generate audio, monitor the room, save a history or create a profile. Downloads and printed copies are optional and stay under your control.
