Behind the result - No mystery in the method
For each anonymous provider, count Yes answers across four information-disclosure questions. No and Not provided both count as zero, but their labels remain distinct in the result. This is a completeness count, not a quality, legal-compliance or competence score. If both optional prices are entered, compare them in cents and display the absolute difference. If either is blank there is no price comparison. Price entries are not automatically adjusted for scope, tax or exclusions. All evidence, terms and provider claims must be checked independently.
The tool does not fetch live prices, diagnose a hidden sewer problem or book a service. Blank optional fields are omitted. Text is displayed literally, not interpreted as HTML.
The result is a working note. Review it before use; changing an input clears the previous result. A download stays on your device until you delete it. This website cannot assess conditions behind walls or underground.
Before you go
Does a higher disclosure count mean a better contractor?
No. It only means you marked more information as supplied. Documents can be incomplete, irrelevant or inaccurate, and the tool does not validate them. Review scope, credentials, insurance and applicable local requirements directly.
Is the lower entered price automatically recommended?
No. A cheaper total may cover less work, exclude fees or rely on different assumptions. Align written scope, access, cleanup and any exclusions before deciding. This tool never names a winner.
Do I need to enter business names, my address or quote documents?
No. Use anonymous Provider A and Provider B labels. There is no upload or identity field. Use a non-identifying reminder if needed and keep private documents outside this website.
Does the checklist verify licensing or warranties?
No. It records your answers only. Check relevant requirements with the appropriate authority and confirm terms directly with the provider. “Terms explained” can mean the provider clearly states that no warranty is offered.
